City of Rohnert Park

Situated in the North Bay, the City of Rohnert Park is home to college students and families alike. Sonoma State University is a highlight of Rohnert Park and attracts people from all over California to visit or gain higher education. The City of Rohnert Park prioritizes safety, community, and opportunity for its residents.

Rohnert Park Ordinances

Ordinance NO. 951 “Alcohol Offenses, Loud and Unruly Gatherings, and Social Host Accountability.” In order for the City of Rohnert Park to ensure peace, safety, and quiet, Ordinance NO. 951 prohibits loud parties and large gatherings in homes.

Transportation

Sonoma County Transit

Sonoma State students ride free on Sonoma County public transit! All you need to do is show your student identification card. Local Route 10 serves the Sonoma State community Monday-Saturday by linking the campus to popular pick-up locations in Rohnert Park and Cotati. Intercity Route 44 runs daily through the Coddingtown Shopping Center in Santa Rosa, to Sonoma State University, and downtown Petaluma. SMART Train 

Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit is the Bay Area’s most convenient, safe, and reliable transportation option. The train runs through all major cities and locations, such as the Sonoma County airport, Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park, Cotati, Petaluma, Novato, San Rafael, and Larkspur. Rental Housing Problems

There are a number of agencies that can help you if you have questions regarding the legalities of renting in Sonoma County. 

Fair Housing of Sonoma County can help if you have been denied housing or treated worse than other applicants or tenants due to your membership in a protected class, such as your race, national origin, disability, sex/gender, color, marital status, sexual orientation, immigration status, or any arbitrary characteristic.

Bill of Rights for Renters 

Individuals should be aware of their rights as residents. Therefore, know that:

  • A resident has the right to be treated fairly and equitably when applying for, living in, and vacating a rental residence.

  • A resident has the right to be given notice prior to any entrance into a rental residence by a rental property owner or manager, except in an emergency.

  • A resident has the right, upon written request to the rental property owner or manager, to a prompt response to requests for repairs.

  • A resident has the right to a written notice from the rental property owner or manager prior to any rent adjustment.
