Staff Profiles
From Genessa, Affinity & Themed Community Assistant 2025-2026
“What I enjoy about being an Affinity & Themed Community Assistant is that it lets me specifically focus on one main group on campus that I am really passionate about. Being able to help a community that I understand better allows me to plan events better and interact with them in a way that feels more inviting. Working with transfers in Transfer House allows us to better connect them with Academic advisors to continue their pathway to education. Being able to better help people through my job is really rewarding because it helps me connect people that may struggle at first with finding community but through event planning, it helps my community and SSU bridge that gap.”
From Adam, Residential Programming Community Assistant 2025-2026
“Being a programmer has given me the chance to host both fun and educational events for residents. I’ve gotten to connect with them on a personal level, converse about their lives, hobbies, and academics, and even offer them advice in the form of resources provided by the school. Overall, it has been a fulfilling experience; I feel like a provider for the community.”
From Gabriela, Noma Cares Community Assistant 2025-2026
“I enjoy working at Noma Cares because I get to support and help students connect them to the right resources they may need. I enjoy working with three awesome women who care for students' mental health and are always happy to help in any way they can! Noma Cares is a place for any student, staff, and faculty to get guidance or to simply enjoy our wellness center. I specifically love my job the most because I do social media/marketing and I love connecting with different departments like AS, Seawolf Living, etc!”
From Abby, Housing Operations Community Assistant 2025-2026
“I really enjoy how scheduled and orderly working in Operations is. I know what needs to be done and what is expected of me each time I come into the office, which allows me to manage my time consistently from week to week. I like being able to support residents from across campus and interact with their families and loved ones. I also enjoy working on the “back end” and seeing how Residential Education and Campus Housing collaborate with other areas within Student Affairs.”
