We're so excited you chose to apply to live on campus at Sonoma State University. Below is a brief description of how the application process works for the 2022/2023 academic year. You're going to love living on campus, so be sure to make plans early to apply. To learn more about the available options, please view our Housing Options webpage.
How to Apply for Housing
Incoming Student
- Be admitted to SSU for Fall 2022.
- Complete your Stay on Track and Intent to Enroll.
- Apply to live on campus from February - May by accessing the Housing Portal (you will need your SSU username and password)
- Apply early for the best chance of getting one of your top preferences.
- We will continue to accept applications until full.
- Room assignments are first-come-first-serve
- Make $300 Housing Down Payment. The $300 payment will be applied to your total housing fees for the fall semester.
- Complete the application process.
- Receive room assignment via SSU email in mid June.
Current SSU Student Not Living On Campus During Spring 2022
- Apply to live on campus from February - May by accessing the Housing Portal (you will need your SSU username and password)
- Apply early for the best chance of getting one of your top preferences.
- We will continue to accept applications until full.
- Room assignments are first-come-first-serve
- Make $300 Housing Down Payment. The $300 payment will be applied to your total housing fees for the fall semester.
- Complete the application process.
- Receive room assignment via email in mid June.
How It Works
Please note Housing Applications are accepted until capacity is reached. In the event that we reach capacity, we will continue to accept applications and payments and students will be placed on a waitlist. In the event that we are unable to house you one week after the semester begins, we will refund the payment in full.
*Financial Hardship: please contact REACH at housing@sonoma.edu if you are unable to make the Housing Down Payment in full at the time you apply.
Cancellations
If your plans change and you no longer plan to live on campus, please notify us at housing@sonoma.edu. The Housing Down Payment is 50% refundable until June 1, 2022; no refunds thereafter. Students who complete the application process and receive a room assignment will be charged $250 if they cancel after August 1, 2022 or fail to check in seven (7) days after the start of the semester.
