We are just as excited as you are to be moving onto campus for the upcoming school year. Let's review how the move in process will work this year. Please continue to monitor this page for updates.
THREE ACTION ITEMS REQUIRED BEFORE YOU ARRIVE
- ALL students will need to be in compliance with the Vaccine requirements ( documents must be uploaded and accepted by SSU). Please see the SSU’s Vaccine Requirement webpage for additional information.
- FIRST YEAR STUDENTS need to register for courses before they move in. If you have not registered for your classes, please call the Advising & Transfer Center at 707-664-2730 (weekdays from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm) for assistance.
- FIRST YEAR STUDENTS are required to attend Seawolf Welcome Week (Aug. 16 - Aug. 19), please follow these steps to register, prior to moving in.
Students will arrive on their scheduled date and time at the Green Music Center (GMC), located on the North West side of campus:
New Incoming Freshmen & Transfer Students:
This check-in experience is for those students who are new to the university and will be participating in NOMA Nation Orientation & Welcome Week from August 16- 19. If you identify as this student type, you will check in on Tuesday, August 16. *Please see the on campus rates page for additional rent costs.
Current SSU Students
This check-in experience is for those students who are returning to live on campus again or have been attending SSU for previous semesters. If you identify as this student type, you will check in on Saturday, August 20.
Check-In Information
In order to check-in on your scheduled move-in day, you will need to have an active student ID card. Incoming freshmen and transfers, if you have not already done so, please submit your photo by replying to the email sent from ssuidcards@sonoma.edu (please check your SPAM folder if you do not have it in your inbox). This should be completed by July 29 so you can pick up your ID at check-in. Returning SSU students, you will be issued a temporary key access card upon check-in and will have until August 31 to get your SSU ID card encoded
Please log in to your Housing Portal and verify your housing assignment as you will need your building name. Based on your housing assignment, please see the table below for your check-in date and time at the GMC. Arriving at your scheduled time is critical to a successful, fast, and seamless move-in experience. The following considerations are taken into account when determining the move-in date and time:
- Number of students in a building
- Proximity of being able to unload vehicles as close to the building as possible
- Traffic flow around campus and having students move in around the same time
- Coordinating ID encoding for student’s room access
Failing to check-in during the window below will likely cause delays for you to check-in and/or we may ask you to return at another check-in day and time. Also, if you arrive on campus to check-in after 3:00 pm, or on Sunday, you will need to check in directly at the REACH Office located in Zinfandel Hall.
Important Details About Move-In
- Students will need to be in compliance with the Vaccine requirements. Please see the SSU’s Vaccine Requirement webpage for additional information. We encourage students to take a COVID-19 test 24-28 hours before arriving. This is not a requirement. For the health and safety of your fellow Seawolves, please take care of yourself and do not arrive to campus if you are feeling unwell or have COVID-19 symptoms.
- Hand trucks and carts will not be available, thus we recommend you bring your own if possible.
- Family and friends are welcome to help you move-in, but please be aware that more people may cause slower access to stairwells.
- We are trying to coordinate volunteers who will provide assistance during move-in dates/times, but please don't count on this support.
- Weather conditions during move-in can vary from cool, damp and foggy in the morning, to hot and sticky in the afternoons. We recommend checking the weather before you arrive and planning accordingly.
- It is critical all incoming students have checked in by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 16, as NOMA Nation Orientation & Welcome Week Opening Ceremony for all students starts that evening.
