Residents receive Xfinity On Campus which allows residents to stream live TV and Xfinity On Demand wireless through laptops, tablets, and smartphones. Xfinity On Campus supports watching live TV, DVR, and On Demand content via a Roku Xfinity Stream beta channel. Residents will sign in using their SSU username and password to gain access to their favorite programming and thousands of On Demand shows and movies.

What is Xfinity On Campus?

Xfinity On Campus is an IP-TV service from Comcast delivered through the university's IP network. The same broadcast and cable channels that Comcast already provides to your TV, PLUS Xfinity On DemandTM which gives you the best selection of current TV shows and hit movies, are now available on your laptop or desktop computer. Wherever you are on campus, whether wired or Wi-Fi™, Xfinity on Campus delivers what you want to watch, when you want to watch it.

Who has access to Xfinity On Campus?

Xfinity On Campus is a service provided to any resident currently living on campus. Once a resident vacates the residential community they no longer have access to Xfinity On Campus.

What devices are supported?

Xfinity On Campus is currently available for viewing on PC, Mac, iPhone, 4th generation or later iPod Touch, iPad, and Android devices. Xfinity On Campus provides a complete list of system requirements.

How do I access Xfinity On Campus on my computer?

  1. Make sure you're on campus and connected to Sonoma State's WiFi network.
  2. Login to Xfinity Select Sonoma State University from the drop down box.
  3. Enter your Seawolf username and password. This step confirms you are a resident on campus currently and eligible to receive services from Xfinity On Campus. Xfinity On Campus NEVER sees your password. The login page is maintained by Sonoma State, not Xfinity On Campus.
  4. Once authenticated, click on the "Start Watching" button. This will launch the Xfinity Stream app.

The Xfinity On Campus app says I am off-campus and won't let me watch TV. What do I do?

Xfinity On Campus requires you to be a current resident on campus and connected to the campus IP network. Once you leave the University location, the Live TV and On Demand is no longer available. If you purchase additional services like HBO To Go, you will be able to access those stations from any location.

Why does Xfinity On Campus ask for my university login?

Comcast Xfinity On Campus partners with Sonoma State University to deliver broadcast and cable channels PLUS Xfinity On DemandTM, which gives you the best selection of current TV shows and hit movies, to your laptop or desktop computers. These services are offered only to current residents living on-campus while connected to the campus IP network. Your Seawolf login is used to verify your identity for Comcast.

How many devices can I register? How many shows may I watch simultaneously?

You may register 3 devices with Xfinity On Campus but only stream video to one device at a time. You can deregister a device at any time.

Does Xfinity offer DVR Services?

Residents will be able to record shows and watch at a later date. Xfinity On Campus will offer 20 hours of storage, allow residents to record two shows at a time, and once downloaded they will be able to view on or off-campus.

How do I set up my Roku?

Residents can download the Xfinity Stream Beta Channel from the Roku Channel store by searching for "Xfinity" or you can add directly to your Roku account. If you don't already have an account you will need to create a Roku account. You will need to register your Roku device with the SSU-Blue network.

Does Sonoma State have coaxial cable access?

Based on usage data from the past several years, most students stream shows to their computer or mobile device.  Therefore, to save money for students and the university thereby allowing rent to increase less, coaxial cable service is no longer provided, effective June 1, 2020.
