Below is a brief description of how the application process works for the Spring 2023 semester. To learn more about the available options, please view our Housing Options webpage.

How to Apply for Housing

Incoming Student

  1. Be admitted to SSU for Spring 2023. 
  2. Complete your Stay on Track and Intent to Enroll. 
  3. Applications open on October 5, 2022 for First Year students and Sophomores & above. (you will need your SSU username and password)
    1. Apply early for the best chance of getting one of your top preferences. 
    2. We will continue to accept applications until full.
    3. Room assignments are first-come-first-serve.
  4. Make $300 Housing Down Payment. The $300 payment will be applied to your Spring 2023 housing fees for the Spring semester. 
  5. Complete the application process. 
  6. Receive room assignment via SSU email in mid-December.

Current SSU Student Not Living On Campus During Fall 2022 

  1. Applications open on October 5, 2022 for First Year students and Sophomores & above. (you will need your SSU username and password)
    1. Apply early for the best chance of getting one of your top preferences. 
    2. We will continue to accept applications until full.
    3. Room assignments are first-come-first-serve.
  2. Make $300 Housing Down Payment. The $300 payment will be applied to your Spring 2023 housing fees for the Spring semester. 
  3. Complete the application process. 
  4. Receive room assignment via email in mid-December.

How It Works

Please note Housing Applications are accepted until capacity is reached. In the event that we reach capacity, we will continue to accept applications and payments and students will be placed on a waitlist. In the event that we are unable to house you one week after the semester begins, we will refund the payment in full.

*Financial Hardship: please contact REACH at housing@sonoma.edu if you are unable to make the Housing Down Payment in full at the time you apply.

Roommate Requests

Applicants will have the ability to request a roommate(s), although it is not required. Roommate requests will open October 20, 2022 to November 15, 2022. 

Move In

Move In is planned for January 20, 2023*. 

*Early arrival is not available for the Spring semester.

Cancellations

If your plans change and you no longer plan to live on campus, please notify us at housing@sonoma.edu. Students who have a change in plans and do not need to live on campus can cancel by December 15, 2022 to receive a 50% refund of the Housing Down Payment, no refunds thereafter. Students who complete the application process and receive a room assignment from REACH will be charged a $250 service fee for not providing thirty (30) day notice if they cancel after January 1, 2023, or fail to check in seven (7) days after the start of the semester.
